Steps Dance School

Studio Policies

  1. For all classes, dancers must adhere to Steps Dance School code of standards.

  1. It is expected that the dancer should arrive at least 5 minutes before class to prepare so class can start on time. It is preferred that students remain inside after class to be picked up punctually.

  1. Jewelry is not to be worn in class, rehearsals, or performances. (Small earrings are okay.)

  1. Gum, foul language, & disruptive behavior are not allowed in & around the studio, & at studio functions (performances, parties, etc).

  1. Food and drink will be allowed in the studio but if there are ANY incidents of it not being thrown away it will not be allowed for that semester.  Pick-up after yourself.

This also goes for the cups that are provided for drinking water.

  1. Steps Dance School (SDS) is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property.

  1. SDS will post any changes and information as soon as possible.  There will be a note sent home with the student, sent out via e-mail, and posted on the bulletin board. It is your responsibility to be informed.

  1. Family Obervation:  Our policy for the observation of classes by parents follows the same as what is expected of your child at school.  It is very important for the student’s focus to be on the teacher and for the teacher to have the ability to teach without interruption, disruption or distractions. It is the teachers decision to allow or not to allow parent observation.  If the teacher decides not to allow open observation, the first week of each month parents will be allowed to watch the class(es). It is preferred that parents only watch a few times a month not every class. This allows for the parent to see the dancers’ progress.

  1. Tuition is due by the 10th of the month. After the 10th a $10 late fee will be charged. If tuition is still not collected by the 20th the spot will be filled by someone on the waiting list.  If a student decides to drop written notification needs to be received before the 8th of the month or you will be billed for that month’s tuition.

  1. Cell Phones & All Electronic Devices: Are not allowed in the classroom. They are a distraction.  This allows each child to give their full attention to the teacher and class work.

  1. Attendance must be on a regular basis for maximum benefit to the students.  Please call SDS if you are unable to attend.

  1. Tardiness: Dancers who are more than 5 minutes late for class are expected to warm-up on their own and then join the class.  Class attendance is vital for improvement of skills, therefore, being on time is important.

  1. In case of an injury, dancers are still expected to attend classes to observe and participate as much as their physical condition permits.
